The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) Committee on Environment and Sustainability is sponsoring research aimed at valuing wildlife crossings and enhancements for mitigation credits.  For more information on the research project.

As part of the research, Louis Berger US, Inc. and the Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University are conducting a survey to summarize Department of Transportation (DOTs) and Practitioner experiences and the current state of practice for methods used to determine the value of wildlife overpasses, underpasses, bridges, culverts and enhancements for habitat connectivity, and how these values are applied in calculating transportation project mitigation requirements, mitigation credits, or mitigation effectiveness. The results of this project will provide guidance to DOTs and practitioners on potential methods that could be used to develop and secure mitigation credits for roadway enhancements that improve terrestrial wildlife connectivity.

Your participation and contributions to the survey is a vital part of the research program. Please take 20 to 30 minutes to complete the survey at the following website: https://montana.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0dCBQlySXilnTo1

Willing participants are encouraged to take part in a follow-up telephone interview.  Thank you in advance for your time and consideration, we understand your time is limited and appreciate your contribution to this effort.

Please complete the survey before Friday, April  19th, 2019.
